Frequently Asked Questions

How to Reserve a Baby Bear Frenchie

Here at Baby Bear Frenchies to reserve a spot on our waitlist, please first fill out and submit our application. Our puppies are typically reserved prior to breeding. At this time we will only ask for deposits once the puppies are born and we know how many are available in the litter. Then you will be contacted once litter is born and verified healthy, then you will be able to submit your $500 non-refundable deposit in order to hold your place. Puppy picks will be in the order of waiting list and deposit. Picks will be done between 4-5 weeks of age. Once you have chosen your puppy they are taken off the market and remaining balance is due before picking up or delivering your new baby.

When is my puppy ready to come home

Puppies will be ready to go home between 8-10 weeks of age.

How do I get my Baby Bear Frenchie puppy?

When puppies are ready to go home, you will have a couple options. We do not do home pick up. This is for our safety and our dogs safety. We can meet (within a reasonable distance) within the Houston area. We can also arrange a flight nanny service and delivery. This can be done nationwide and we can meet you at the airport with your puppy. There is a delivery charge for this service. Many of our puppies are delivered via flight nanny.

What does my puppy come home with?

Your new puppy will come with his or her first set of shots and health check up from our veterinarian. They will come with a one year health guarantee. Also a small puppy pack with a few initial necessities to help them adjust to their new forever homes.

What kind of food do you feed?

Puppies are currently eating Royal Canine Puppy Food as well as Raw. We are constantly researching what the best food is for our dogs, so this might change. We can also provide a list of recommendations upon request. It is recommended to keep them on the same food until 6 months of age before switching them. French Bulldogs can be sensitive to food changes.

What is a Guardian Home?

We want the very best for our dogs. We want to make sure they get the proper care and attention that they each deserve. As a Guardian you will have the opportunity to care for our “pick of the litter” at a reduced price. Most times it will be a guardian home for a female spot, however we may sometimes have a male spot available. We decided to do the guardian home program for our dogs because we truly believe that they become your companions. We want them to be able to be in their forever home without being re-homed later in life. We also get very attached to our French Bulldogs and they do us. This helps us to manage our pack size and our program, so we can keep improving.

As a guardian parent, we will stay in touch often. I offer and encourage play dates and boarding to my guardian home parents. We become a family. Your female French Bulldog will be bred no more than three times and then she is spayed and remains in your home, happily retired. Guardian parent is responsible for all care included not limited to : veterinary check ups, vaccines, flea and tick medicines, a high quality diet, puppy and dog training and obedience, and any non-breeding related care needed. Baby Bear Frenchies covers all cost related to breeding.

If interested, must live within an hour of Houston, Texas. Fill out our application to get started. Our current Guardian Home price is $2000. Not everyone will qualify.

How often do you have puppies available?

We are just a small hobby breeder that loves and wants to better our French Bulldog breed. At this time we plan to have only 1-3 litters per year at this point. Typical French Bulldog litter is around 3 puppies, so be sure to get on our waitlist by filling out our application.

Will my puppies be potty trained?

We will take all the steps we can to get your puppy started in the right direction. We are always learning and implementing new ideas, but we currently litter train our puppies using pine pellets and a litter box. French Bulldogs are known to be stubborn and more difficult to potty train. They will be started in the right direction and going mostly in either the litter box or outdoors in our turfed dog run. You will need to continue potty training at home. We do not do puppy pads because mine have just ripped them up. We feel that pellets have been a much cleaner option and safe if ingested.

What is Pet Insurance?

As I am sure you know, our special breed can be prone to health risks. Although we take as many preventative mearures when selecting our breeding pairs to help alleviate some of these problems we still can not fully prevent or control it. There is still a chance that your French Bulldog will need veterinarian care more than other breeds you may have owned in the past. We highly recommend getting health insurance as soon as possible. We currently use Nationwide with the Wellness plan for our dogs, but there are many other insurance programs out there such as Embrace and Trupanion.
